CSC What we are

The Cordillera Studies Center (CSC) serves as the primary unit in promoting and developing research activities in UP Baguio, in accordance with the University’s mandate to exercise academic leadership in teaching, research and extension work.  Although it supports research on a wide range of topics that reflect the research interests of its faculty and researchers, its principal area of interest is the highland region of northern Philippines, administratively known as the Cordillera Administrative Region.

 

What We Are

The Cordillera Studies Center (CSC) serves as the primary unit in promoting and developing research activities in UP Baguio, in accordance with the University’s mandate to exercise academic leadership in teaching, research and extension work.  Although it supports research on a wide range of topics that reflect the research interests of its faculty and researchers, its principal area of interest is the highland region of northern Philippines, administratively known as the Cordillera Administrative Region.

 As UP Baguio’s lead institution for research, the CSC is tasked with 

  • setting the research directions of the University,  providing support and incentives for faculty research , and initiating and coordinating university-level research activities
  • establishing linkages with local and international research institutions for the conduct of research
  • assisting local and foreign researchers whose projects are in line with the research thrust of the Center
  • strengthening UP Baguio’s publication program for the dissemination of research outputs
  • promoting continuing dialogue among academics, non-government groups, government  agencies, and the larger public in response to regional and national needs
  • developing the Cordillera Studies Special Collection in coordination with the UP Baguio Library.
